Hi, I’m Jonas, a director and directing DP, but I prefer to call myself a filmmaker, having always understood the importance of the creation of a film in its whole process rather than its individual parts.

I started filming ski videos with friends at 16, and my passion quickly turned into something more. Early client projects led me to start my first company at 17 and begin an apprenticeship at an advertising agency. At 20, I co-founded the production company graupause (www.graupause.com), and after completing my film studies, my path in the film industry was set.

Over the years, I’ve gained experience in everything from producing low-budget long formats to shooting high-end commercials-from sleeping in a tent in the Iranian mountains while working on a documentary to directing car commercials all over Europe. Regardless of the project, my focus is always on achieving the best possible result for the given format.

My experiences in both documentary and commercial filmmaking have profoundly shaped my visual language. I strive to create emotional and authentic imagery by blending real-life sincerity with a cinematic aesthetic.

As co-founder of a production company, I’ve not only refined my creative skills but also built a strong foundation in producing. That’s why I don’t see myself as a traditional director or directing DP-I always try to take a broader approach, combining creative vision with hands-on production expertise. I believe the right tools and mindset turn challenges-whether it’s budget constraints or bad weather-into opportunities for creative solutions.
